Ayendy Bonifacio is an English PhD student and teaching associate in the English department. His primary research interest is nineteenth-century American literature with a focus on periodical culture and poetry. His research revisits nineteenth-century periodical poetry deemed genteel and ephemera by readers and scholars of American literature and explores intersections between poetry, news, gender, and race in periodical formats. He has taught writing composition courses to undergraduates with themes that study “Poetry and Song,” “New York City Periodical Poetics,” and “Nineteenth- and Twentieth-Century Periodical Culture.” He occasionally posts interesting archival findings on his American Periodical Poetry Facebook page.
